Is it better to file taxes married jointly or married separate?

Filing jointly will reduce the tax you owe.Is it better to file taxes married jointly or married separate?
Filing jointly will almost always cost you less in total tax.Is it better to file taxes married jointly or married separate?
It's best to do it both ways in pencil; and file the one that saves you money.
It is always better to file jointly. If you file separately it disqualifies you from a lot of credits.

What do married couples without children do?

I know some married couples who say that their marriage would be boring without kids. So the few that don't want kids, don't they get bored with each other? What do married couples without children do?
Our marriage was not boring before kids, in fact having our son made it significantly more so. (Not that we regret it, we love our son dearly, but we won't be doing the empty nest whining when he goes to college) Kids are great, but they can be boring as h3ll unless you really enjoy things like sponge bob.

We still get a night or two a week to ourselves, we go out with friends, or have dates. We take him places too since he is older now.

I think you only get bored with your spouse when both of you stop trying, not whether or not you have kids. What do married couples without children do?
It's not the kids we miss, it's the absence of the community that grows out around the kids. You know, the friends you make who are other parents, the parents next door, etc. We are definitely bored with each other. We don't have money to travel since we work, and sometimes we wonder if we should have kids just to have a life. Don't worry; we won't make that mistake. But I just want the question-asker to get an honest answer.

Not like the others weren't honest, but they were all happy. I should also say that all our family members are on another coast, and we live in L.A. where even our friends don't have time to hang out with us.
kids are not exactly born for entertainment ya know. They are a lot of work and responsibility. My husband and I can go to the Caribbean on a whim. We go out to dinner without the need for a babysitter and we do not have to spend all of our money on diapers and baby food. Don't get me wrong, we want kids but because we want children and not out of boredom.
Why would they? They got married because they loved each other. People don't get married to have kids...they get married because they want to share their lives. Some decide to have children and others don't. Children don't complete a couple's life..they may add to it, but childless couples are just as complete as those with children.
Go out dancing, go out to dinner, go to the movies, go on vacation (trip abroad), have sex anytime and every time they want to without worrying about hiring a babysitter or having a family member take care of the kids.
Probably not. They can come and go as they please without worrying about a babysitter. Finances are better. Traveling is easy. Freedom is huge without kids. I could go on and on.
Married couples without kids have better sex lives. Enjoy.
Whatever we want. If we decide to up and leave we can go. We also have dog that is fun to play with.
We do whatever we want.

Not boring at all, it's great!

Kids shouldn't be used to ';spice up'; a boring relationship.

Can a married couple make a legal contract where one spouse can purchase property in their name only?

If one spouse wants to buy an apartment with his or her personal life savings, can that spouse make a binding legal contract where that property will remain in his or her possession if the couple divorces? Can a married couple make a legal contract where one spouse can purchase property in their name only?
In most cases, I believe the property would need to be purchased BEFORE the wedding. And remember that even with contracts, pre-nups, and the like, if there are children, then its all up for grabs in a divorce.

Simply put, no one can legally sign away their children's rights to a parent's assets.

Good luck with this one...Can a married couple make a legal contract where one spouse can purchase property in their name only?
If It's a community property state, you're gonna have problems. You should probably check the laws in your state. Especially if you are going to buy land or something like that that has permanence and value. In Texas, it isn't legal. Everything purchased by one spouse automatically shares ownership with the other. She might not need your jock strap, but it's still partly hers.
No, that's why you are legally married, you share in the fortune and loss equally. You seem to be another one that wants it both ways at the same time, are you sure you're not jewish.
In most states, yes.

Community property states, it could be tricky.

U got married last year and still havent changed my last name. How do I start doing it?

I got married and still have my maiden name. I want to change it. How do I start? ThanksU got married last year and still havent changed my last name. How do I start doing it?
lol You and me both! I got married July last year and STILL haven't gotten around to my name change. Well, I don't know if it's different in every state but here in PA I was told to take our marriage license back to the courthouse with $10 to get another certificate. This certificate will allow for our name change. I have to take that certificate with me to the SS office and DMV. Now if I can find the time to get to the darn courthouse again! hahaU got married last year and still havent changed my last name. How do I start doing it?
You go to the social security office with your id, your marriage certificate, your birth certificate, they'll do the rest. and then you need a new id, new birth certificate.. oy. it was a pain.
In the UK all you have to do is start calling yourself by your new name - no legal formalities. However you will need to inform post office, bank, passport agency etc
Bring your marriage certificate to a Social Security office, they will do it all for you

  • Is it wrong to have casual friendship with a married guy?

Especially if it's long distance. I don't know his wife since I met him in a delivery from my office but we have stated we are friends and like to keep in touch. He's military but he's like very friendly and has never said anything shady to me, just friends.

But we like to update in stuff going on. Not a big email guy, just send little short notes saying Hi and stuff.

Can a friendship be going on without harm?Is it wrong to have casual friendship with a married guy?
its a dangerous situationIs it wrong to have casual friendship with a married guy?
only if his wife is aware and you are friends with her as well. i generally do not trust the motives of married men who wander into an office one day and just start passing out their email address... doesn't it make you wonder what the real story is? sounds to me like he needs to have some backup in his little black book in case things don't work out with his wife.
Don't increase your relation. It is not good at all. If he love his wife and your feeling increases to loves then you will be badly hurt and you will be not able to pay attention in your married life or in future marriage life. If he start loving you then he is cheating his wife and he can cheat you in future. Or it can be that your feeling and relation can break his married life. Think!!!! from all side its your loss. BEAWARE OF SUCH RELATION.
Ask his wife if she's down with it - chances are she wouldn't be unless they have an open marriage.

If he's spending time visiting with you - whether it's long distance or up close and personal, it doesn't matter. The time he's giving to you, he isn't giving to his marriage.

I am a millitary wife. My husband delivers parts. Not saying this question is one and the same. If it was me I would like to know. My husband has been odd for the past few months now. I would like to check his work email and / or stop in, but I can't. My guy is quite charming, but trust me there is a back story.

Right now this seems harmless, but I wouldn't let it get more chummy. I'm in utah by-the-way LOL email me if you are to richins1987@comcast.net
Well I don't know. I mean my husband has acquaintances from work but for him to actually talk with them outside of work as ';friends';, that just doesn't fly with me. From experience in the past with my husband a ';friendship'; with the opposite sex will most likely lead to something further
I say yes...as long as both parties agree mutually that it will be friends and you respect his relationship with his wife and vice versa.
ok answer this...if you were the wife how would you feel if I was the friend he had? and I just said everything your asking about. would you be ok with us? Didnt think so.. so yeah its gotta stop.
Most men ARE NOT CAPABLE of the ';just-friends'; thing.
Yeah I think his wife should know about it. Other than that - I have no reason to say no:)

Gay marriage in Ca. Can my spouse be denied medical benefits if my company offer to heterosexual married cpls?

I am marrying my domestic partner of 8 yrs in California. I wanted to ask if my company can deny my spouse medical benefits in California if it is offered to my heterosexual married co-workers?Gay marriage in Ca. Can my spouse be denied medical benefits if my company offer to heterosexual married cpls?
no in California a gay married couple is the same as a man and a women being married my B/F wants to go there so we can get married it would be discrimination if they denied you coverageGay marriage in Ca. Can my spouse be denied medical benefits if my company offer to heterosexual married cpls?
California law prohibits discrimination based on both marital status and sexual orientation. If an employer offers benefits to opposite sex spouses while denying the same benefits to same sex spouses, they are violating the law.
Since you are married, I belive you can still get benefits for your spouse, but then again, it all depends on what company
    Yes
    i dont think so

What exactly do you need to qualify to get married in a catholic church in California?

I think you have to talk to a priest about joining that church or that faith. Then you need to attend for awhile and they have some kind of counseling or classes where you learn what marriage is really all about or something like that. I wish that I had gone through that with my husband but we didn't. He was not Catholic and I thought I knew enough about life to go ahead and get married anyways. Well, guess who is divorced? yup. me.So go talk to a priest and you'll get your answers.Best of luck to you %26amp; yours...What exactly do you need to qualify to get married in a catholic church in California?
depends on the church some are more hard core traditional then others but i believe the proper way is that at lest one of you is catholic and has preformed all your sacraments you go to a marriage counseling class or classes you go to confession and neither one of you has been married in the church before also in order for the cost to be lower if not free a member of that church or they will charge a fee and i believe that you must also agree to bring your children up in the catholic faith (but that one i am not as sure on ) if you look on line you should find your answer or call your local church and see what they say! What exactly do you need to qualify to get married in a catholic church in California?
LOVE, commitment, and goodwill. The caholic church is not a hard institution to get along with. It promotes marriage and want those mariages to succeed. It is easier to prevent bad marriages than getting divorced in a couple of years...annulment in the church will take some time to resolve. Soooo, go to the marriage prep courses and good luck
At least one of you must be a catholic. Both of you must not have been married before in the Catholic Church. If either of you were married in the Catholic Church before, then you need an anullment from the Vatican.
A spouse to be and it would help if you where catholic.
    to be a catholic
You will probably need to meet with the priest several times before for enagaged couple counseling. If you have been married previously you will need to get it anulled (very lengthy and spendy).
    Not to be gay.
Permission from the priest and a license.
I know for one thing, if you've ever been married before, they won't marry you.
It is absolutely not true that a Catholic church will not marry you if you have been married before. Just like one said before, the marriages must be anulled by the vatican. My mother remarried in the Catholic church. Look at churches first, make a list of your favorites then talk to the appropriate priests about a date and if there is anything else you need to do. Remember, priests have taken a vow of poverty so whatever it is that they charge for the ceremony, it is pennies compared to what other places charge. If you have your legal papers in order there should be no issue with the church.
