What exactly do you need to qualify to get married in a catholic church in California?

I think you have to talk to a priest about joining that church or that faith. Then you need to attend for awhile and they have some kind of counseling or classes where you learn what marriage is really all about or something like that. I wish that I had gone through that with my husband but we didn't. He was not Catholic and I thought I knew enough about life to go ahead and get married anyways. Well, guess who is divorced? yup. me.So go talk to a priest and you'll get your answers.Best of luck to you %26amp; yours...What exactly do you need to qualify to get married in a catholic church in California?
depends on the church some are more hard core traditional then others but i believe the proper way is that at lest one of you is catholic and has preformed all your sacraments you go to a marriage counseling class or classes you go to confession and neither one of you has been married in the church before also in order for the cost to be lower if not free a member of that church or they will charge a fee and i believe that you must also agree to bring your children up in the catholic faith (but that one i am not as sure on ) if you look on line you should find your answer or call your local church and see what they say! What exactly do you need to qualify to get married in a catholic church in California?
LOVE, commitment, and goodwill. The caholic church is not a hard institution to get along with. It promotes marriage and want those mariages to succeed. It is easier to prevent bad marriages than getting divorced in a couple of years...annulment in the church will take some time to resolve. Soooo, go to the marriage prep courses and good luck
At least one of you must be a catholic. Both of you must not have been married before in the Catholic Church. If either of you were married in the Catholic Church before, then you need an anullment from the Vatican.
A spouse to be and it would help if you where catholic.
to be a catholic
You will probably need to meet with the priest several times before for enagaged couple counseling. If you have been married previously you will need to get it anulled (very lengthy and spendy).
Not to be gay.
Permission from the priest and a license.
I know for one thing, if you've ever been married before, they won't marry you.
It is absolutely not true that a Catholic church will not marry you if you have been married before. Just like one said before, the marriages must be anulled by the vatican. My mother remarried in the Catholic church. Look at churches first, make a list of your favorites then talk to the appropriate priests about a date and if there is anything else you need to do. Remember, priests have taken a vow of poverty so whatever it is that they charge for the ceremony, it is pennies compared to what other places charge. If you have your legal papers in order there should be no issue with the church.
