I've heard so many things about McCain's 1st marriage. If any of you know the real facts about it, please tell me. What is the real truth about McCain's 1st marriage? How long was he married? Why did he divorce? ?
Senator McCain's first wife was a woman named Carol, a model back in her day, and they married years before he was a POW in Vietnam. Going on her 3rd Christmas without him she was in a serious auto accident that crippled her. She lost 4 inches in an operation where the doctors had to remove bone from her legs. They married in 1975 I believe, but upon his return to the states they were both changed people and he soon filed for divorce. He had met Cindy in Hawaii at a cocktail party before his divorce. He felt he fell in love with Cindy but his divorce to Carol was ended amicably. She supports him even today and he had agreed when they divorced to pay for all her medical treatment, etc along with child support. Carol was married once before she married McCain and had 2 children from that marriage when she married him.What is the real truth about McCain's 1st marriage? How long was he married? You can Google a more extensive answer, but the story is they were married young. She was a model and they had two or three kids. He went off to war and got captured and put in a POW camp. Meanwhile, she got in a horrible car accident and had to have a whole bunch of surgeries. She put on a lot of weight and I think one of her legs is now shorter than the other. She didn't tell him about the accident while he was in the camp because she didn't want to worry him, so it was a surprise to him when he came back. Apparently when he came back he got caught up in the ';celebrity'; of being a war hero, and soon ditched his disfigured wife in favour of the wealthy Cindy, who I believe is from a political family.That's how he got into politics. Shockingly his first wife stands by him even though he cheated on her with Cindy. Probably because he agreed to pay her extensive medical bills for life, and she is from the era of ';stand by your man no matter what';.
