How far in advance should my fiance and I create our wedding registries?-Getting married 5-1-10?

We have everything booked and planned besides the florist. I don't know when to book the florist either! Also, does anyone have any creative DIY projects I can do!?How far in advance should my fiance and I create our wedding registries?-Getting married 5-1-10?
ask your married friends what florist they used and how far in advance to do that. the earlier the better I say, that way you have a better chance of getting a good florist for the date you need.

you can do your registry anytime you want, and add to it for the next several months as you think of additional items. but your shower won't be until next march or april. How far in advance should my fiance and I create our wedding registries?-Getting married 5-1-10?
Don't go to early or items may be discontinued. I would say find out when your first shower is and try for a couple weeks before that. no need to do it before cause no one will be ready to buy a gift yet.
As early as possible.
start now. Just because you start it doesn't mean you have to tell people about it. it takes time to do so get a start on it. they reccommend registering for 30% more gifts than people you are inviting to make sure there is a good selection to choose from.
For the registries, we did it the same time we sent out the invitations (supposed to be 6-8 weeks before wedding). Nobody is going to look for registries before they are even officially invited.

As for the florists, look around now and ask them when would be a good time to book them. If you know what you want now, i would just get it out of the way.

*i do have to say that the products change (even ours in like 2 months time) so i would wait until the last possible minute to do it or all the stuff will have gone out of stock*

You are wayyyyy prepared! We didnt even get the music set until 3 days before the big day but everything turned out perfect!
Cogratulations! I'm getting married next May as well.

I think when you send out the invitations.
you're just about ready to do that!! You only have 8 months left and I assume you're going to have a shower, which will probably be 2 months before you're wedding, and invited will go out 2 months before that, so you're looking at 4 months left to register!

Go in the next month or so! Good Luck!
Do it in February or March if the wedding is in May. Don't do it any earlier, as store inventories change dramatically over the holiday season. If you register too soon, nothing on the registry will be available by the time your guests are ready to purchase gifts. There really is no need to register any earlier than a month or so before the bridal shower, since guests don't tend to buy gifts until close to the events.
If you do it soon you could get some of the stuff on the registry for Christmas, it saves having your family ask what you want. (That's what happened for my birthday.) But things do go out of stock. Often. Especially at Target. It because a pain to keep track of it. I'd wait till after Christmas if you don't want to deal with the hassle.
We got married in August last year and did our registries in May. You don't want to go too far out doing registries because often products change...stuff will get discontinue, new stuff will come out, etc.

Try to start looking at different florists and get some ideas on what type of flowers and bouquets you'd like.

I'm not a crafty person so I did not partake in any DIY projects for my wedding.
i would do now the booking of weddings get filled up fast!!!!!!!!
Its never too early to create your wedding registries. The only concern would be ';Will I still want what I pick out?'; You can start a registry just so you can check mark it off your list. Pick out basics and add on as you think of things.

Also, there are websites that the bride and groom can create online to keep friends and family updated on wedding changes, progress, fun quizzes, vacations and registries up until the wedding. It keeps everyone remembering your big day and it also helps you keep your head straight just when you think you've forgotten to do something. Make a suggestion page on the website (anonymous) so family and friends can give support and ideas.

As far as a florist, try thinking about the kind of flowers you are looking for and shop around. Not all florists can provide every flower you want and some flowers are seasonal which are harder to get (not to mention more expensive). Hope this helps! Congrats!

  1. Go aheaed and register as early as possible. My (new) husband and I registered a year and a half before our wedding and I'm glad we did because we were able to get gifts from our registry for all of the holidays and birthdays inbetween. And I don't know where you're planning on registering, but we used myregistry.com and were able to make categories for our gifts so we could indicate the ones we wouldn't mind receiving before the wedding. This website is also really nice because it lets you add things from any store you want (no limit) but still just have one registry list.
