We are American and want to get married in Jamaica. What are the requirements?

Do you have any suggestions such as resorts to stay at?We are American and want to get married in Jamaica. What are the requirements?

My daughter got married in Jamaica this past New Years Eve. While we are Canadian, I believe the requirements are the same.

Clear %26amp; certified copies of your passports, and birth certificates. If the fathers name is not on the birth certificate, then his full name, date of birth, and place of birth. Divorce papers (if divorced) Details of your occupations. Written parental consent (if under 21) You must be on the Island for a minimum of 24 hours before the wedding.

All resorts do weddings, even most of the smaller hotels have wedding packages, and wedding coordinators. My daughter chose the Royal Decameron in Montego Bay as it was more in our price range. Going for 2 weeks at Christmas %26amp; New Years, and flying from Vancouver was pricey. Just start searching on the internet what area you want first and then take it from there.

What's with all these thumbs down? My daughter just got married there. I think I know what I'm talking about.
I work for American Airlines and been to Jamaica more the three times now. The only requirements that you would need to get on to the island is a passport and you hotel doc that states you have a hotel stay on the island.

Also take a look at this web site it will give you a lot of good info. http://travel.state.gov/travel/cis_pa_tw鈥?/a>

Hi there,

Many, many of the resorts offer the services of a wedding coordinator to help you with with getting married in Jamaica.

It can be a simple ceremony up to sky is the limit.

Visitors can be married just 24 hour after arriving in Jamaica providing prior application has been made for a marriage license.

If you are not working through a resort, to apply for your marriage license, call or visit our Ministry of National Security %26amp; Justice.

Unlike many countries, Jamaica does not expect you take a blood test before getting married.

However, the following documentation is required:

-Proof of citizenship - certified copy of birth certificate, which includes father鈥檚 name.

-Parent鈥檚 written consent if under 18 years of age.

-Proof of divorce if applicable (original certificate of divorce).

-Certified copy of death certificate for widow or widower.

There are non-denominational Marriage Officers who can officiate either at their offices, in their homes or at a place chosen by the couple, and are able to provide witnesses.

Good luck with your wedding!
Check out Weddings by Isabell Stewart in Negril, she did my daughters wedding and it was beautiful. She can give you all the info you will need, and take care of everything.
