Keep in mind, you will not see your husband at all or for more than a few hours at most during his entire basic training (until graduation) and will probably not see him much during advanced training either. If the idea is to get to spend more time with him, just call his training unit and ask them if he is getting any passes, and drive or fly down and get a hotel room for a night or two. When he finishes AIT, he can take 2 weeks of leave and move you to his new post.

In some very rare circumstances, where the AIT is so long (like almost a year), that they permit soldiers to move their families on post. You have to get special permission to do that, and it is usually done for everone in the AIT unit with a family who wants to move on post. In those circumstances, the trainees get weekends off. In most AIT training, though, there is very little time off.

Technically, the army cannot stop you from moving near him for the few months that he is in training. You had better make sure that your old land-lord knows that you are leaving early and is willing to let you out of your lease. You had also better make sure that and your new land-lord (near his training base) also knows that you are only going to be there for a couple of months, because her can make trouble for you if you skip out on your lease. As for actually living on post, definitely not. They will never allow you to live on post. Your child will go to whatever school that he is supposed to go to, based on where you live. You can stay in the temporary housing on post, though. It is like a motel room, and the rates are set so that they are about what you would get for housing allowance, on a daily basis.Iam married with two kids my husband wants to go active duty in army can i go with him when hes in training?
Unless his orders for AIT are longer than 20 weeks he will not get accompanied orders meaning you have to stay behind. Your child will have to start school where you are and when he gets his final orders you move and the child transfers to a new school. Not all schools on base are DoD schools many are run by the local county. Plus there is a chance that you might not actually get to live on base, you have to be prepared to live off base if there is a wait for housing.
no. you are not permitted to join him until he gets accompanied orders and that will not be until after his training is completed.

don't even bother during Basic, you will not see him.. ever. if you choose to move where his AITis it will be out of pocket and he will not be allwoed to live with you nor can you live on base.

only children who live in base housing can attend schools on base.
Unless your husband is on PCS or TCS orders that allow dependents you will have to wait until he is done. He will receive Basic Housing Allowance where you are located until you all relocate together. Once you are at your duty station that you are assigned the child may go to school on post. Good luck
Not during basic training; it's too short and there would be no point in moving.

During AIT, however, it depends on what MOS he chooses. Training can be anywhere from 7 weeks long to over a year long.

And the army does pay for the family to move.
