Is it a crime to live with an illegal alien if you married each other and your paperwork is pending?

Is it or is it not true that living with an illegal alien constitutes ';aiding and abetting a fugitive?'; If that is true, then what do people do once they get married and are waiting out the adjustment of status process? Surely they must be living together, especially if they need to show proof that they are renting together for the green card interviews? I would like to hear answers from people that have personal experience with the process. Thanks! Is it a crime to live with an illegal alien if you married each other and your paperwork is pending?
In the USA, everything is illegal and everything is a crime

That is one of the reasons for them to be going down the drain

Lack of common senseIs it a crime to live with an illegal alien if you married each other and your paperwork is pending?
No it's not a crime. my husband were living together and got married. he overstayed his tourist visa. we applied with a lawyer and he got his work permit. but because he overstayed, he was arrested.

They also may get arrested too and go through removal proceedings. But they can legally only keep them detained for 9 months. If my husband would've stayed in immigration detention then he would eventually got approved for his green card because there was nothing to find him inadmissiable except his overstay. But they may get lucky and just get approved.

It's all up to the immigration. If he does get arrested, just get a lawyer and be patient. DON'T take voluntary depature! Just stay in jail until then you get the decision that the green card will be approved. Because if Overstay if all that they have, then will be released.

It is so much harder to get approved from their home country and its longer depending on which country they are from.

and you have to prove extreme hardship along with a waiver and its very very stressful waiting for the decision.
In theory, yes, it is a crime. In practice, it's rarely prosecuted.

What paperwork is pending? If the alien is illegal, there is nothing that can be filed in the US except an attempt at a hardship waiver, which is rarely granted.
It is aiding and abetting a fugitive. The new laws won't allow a marriage to keep an illegal alien here. They will be deported and banned for ten years. After the ban, they can then apply for a visa from their homeland.
If you are in such a ';relationship';, I suggest you consult an attorney who specializes in immigration law.
well aiding them is just as wrong as them being here in the first place! you should be punished just as bad as the other person... but too bad our justice system is a JOKE!!!
Yes it is.
